I’m seeing a lot of black and white photos from my contacts on flickr lately. Fourteen of the twenty-five thumbnails on the first page are monochrome. Is it something about the weather? Are people just playing around? Maybe it’s a Baader-Meinhoff phenomenon due to my own tests in B&W conversion lately.
I guess more importantly, what does a black and white photo say that color doesn’t? When should and shouldn’t a photo be black and white? My first stumbles into more serious photography were B&W, but that’s because we worked in a darkroom and it makes sense to do that before learning to process color.
